As we start off a new week…. in a new month… in a new season, it can be a challenge not to be overwhelmed by all of the push and rush the holidays bring. Booking travel, meeting deadlines, not to mention the shopping and shipping and sending the cards –
It can be fun, it can be exhilerating, it can be exhausting!
Challenge for the day : Start off with a “No List” list. Now I am not telling you to throw out your to do list. I am simply suggesting you start off the day with boundaries. Take a moment to set a tone of order, sanity and (dare I say), peace in what can become an otherwise maddening pace.
- No texting, e-mailing (reading or answering), talking (except to a real live lunch date!) during meals.
- No humbugging, complaining, kvetching, or one finger salutes.
- No multi-tasking!
- No adding to today’s “To-do list”. If its not a matter of life and death it can go on tomorrow’s!
- No cheating on the “No List”!
Now of course your list may be different but the point is to make one. Make it plain. You know when and where you are pushing the envelope. (and if you don’t, this is a good opportunity to reflect). Pay attention to when your shoulders hunch, breathing speeds up or gets shallow, heart races or face flushes. Drop your chin, your shoulders and breathe deep and say it with me : No.
I know it seems like a no brainer, but if you write it down and remind yourself of it when ever you feel the urge to “get it all done” by any means neccessary. I promise you the results will be worth it!

Reflect: “Our life depends on the kind of thoughts we nurture. If our thoughts are peaceful, calm, meek, and kind, then that is what our life is like. If our attention is turned to the circumstances in which we live, we are drawn into a whirlpool of thoughts and can have neither peace nor tranquility.” Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica
Go ahead, invite a little tranquility this season…I dare you.
